APPARATUS USED
1. Newton Ring Microscope with Built in
Newton ring assembly, with plane
adjustable glass and condenser lens
Microscope : Mounted on a travelling carriage with 30x magnification with 75mm focusing distance, by rack & pinion.
Reading : The longitudinal movement of the microscope for the purpose of the Rings is done by rotating the drum. The 26mm moment can be read by scale and on the divided drum to 0.001 cm.
Newton's Ring Attachment:it consists of optical flat glass and one Plano-convex lens (25mm radius) arranged inside a metal case resting over the stage of the instrument where Rings are formed which can be adjusted with the help of three screws provided for the purpose of alignment.
An Adjustable Reflector Plate: is fitted on the side of the attachment whose angle is to be set at 45ᵒ or such that light should fall inside the Newton's lens.
The Condenser lens: is provided in front of the reflector.
